Recent Activities

As the only body which represents the interests of engineering in higher education right across the UK, we are active in many fora.

We maintain contacts with government and parliament. At a recent meeting with BIS, the President and other Officers set out our concerns about the potential difficulties with funding of engineering departments in the future, raising also our concerns – shared across the HE sector, but particularly acute in engineering departments – about the damaging changes to student visas. The latter is also one of many areas in which we have been working with CaSE and UUK. Currently we are monitoring the effect of the visa changes on MSc recruitment, where some engineering departments have been affected severely.

Annual Congress

Working Groups

These are established to address particular issues.

Where appropriate the activities and reports of these Working Groups have been brought to a wider audience through publication as EPC Occasional Papers.

Interaction with other bodies

EPC holds regular meetings with a variety of organisations, including the Engineering Council and the professional engineering institutions, to exchange views on matters of mutual interest. One-off meetings are also held with other bodies, such as the Quality Assurance Agency, on specific issues.
