EPC Retreat 2008
The EPC has a long tradition of taking a two day meeting every Autumn to allow it to take a more strategic view or to examine issues in greater detail, In the last few years, with the advent of cheap travel, it has added fact finding so that we can use the meeting to find out what is actuually happening on the ground. This year we were in Ireland as guests of Dublin City University and Engineers Ireland. Topics discussed were both strategic and detailed. We had a hard look at how we can maintain and use better out high profile within the limits of our resources. We spent a really useful morning at the International Engineering Education Symposium, organised by DCU, and a day talking with Engineers Ireland on Accreditation and their progress towards Bologna compatibility.
They have declared that with effect from 2013, the standard qualification for charted engineer status will be a five year M Eng Degree.
The Committee were warmly welcomed by Denis NcGrath, registrar of Engineers Ireland .
