Engineering Professor’s Council
International Working Group
Report to EPC Committee 12th December 2007 – CEN-S
- The agreed final minutes of the QAA Closed meeting will be available at the Committee meeting for discussion.
- A brief business meeting was held after the ECuk International Seminar on 21st November 2007
- Progress on issues discussed
- Dr Lloyd Anderson of the British Council could not attend
- CEN-S gave a brief report on the Closed QAA meeting
- It was agreed to hold a one day event by invitation on the 16th or 18th June in collaboration with ECuk, RAEng etc.
- Members attended ECuk International Seminar, an enormous range of activities covered including:
- Qualifications equivalence: European/EURACE and Global
- NARIC, International Engineering Alliance, FEANI
- Mutual recognition implementation, Mobility Directive, EngCard etc.
- Bologna: Shaping the Agenda 28th November2007-12-05
- FJM and CENS attended
- Potentially a very important meeting that did not meet its objectives
- A large amount of information presented to senior University managers, which we already knew
- Break outs groups were of varying quality
- Very powerful panel including Bill Rammell, who came late and had to go early
- Not much “Shaping of the agenda” apparent!
- Most important point to me was the importance of “the student experience”
