Assessment of Learning Outcomes Working Group Report – February 2008

Focus of Group

The focus continues to be on:

1. Planning and mounting the International Conference on ALOE on 27 & 28th November 2008 in London.
2. Monitoring and publishing the commissioned case study work already in hand.
3. Reacting to further requests for the workshops particularly from professional bodies.

Some of the findings of the Working Group were explored at the International Symposium on ‘Student-centred Learning in small groups’ held at Loughborough University on 11th January 2008. The experience of schemes at Loughborough, Manchester, Sheffield Hallam and University College, Dublin were compared together with inputs from Australian delegates.

The Working Group Website ( www.aloe.ac.uk ) is up and running and contains the materials produced by the group. It is attracting significant interest. It contains links to the websites of the three supporting bodies (EPC, ECuk and HEA Engineering Subject Centre).

The next Working Group meeting is on 11th February and a verbal update will be given on further developments.
